Police Bar Hararians From CBD As They Tighten Lockdown

FOLLOWING the Presidential decree of a tighter lockdown, law enforcement officers have been very strict in enforcing the measures, turning away citizens walking into the central business district.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa announced on Monday that lockdown restrictions had been tightened further as the country witnessed rising COVID-19 cases.

They were made to return to their homes if they did not have exemption letters which satisfied the police and or soldiers manning the checkpoints.

Some had to walk from the Mbare-CBD flyover to town as traffic was congested.

The picture shows police officers stopping hundreds of people walking into the Harare CBD along Seke Rd and thoroughly scrutinizing their exemption letters. Those without letters were being ordered to return home.
