Rural Schools Destroyed By Heavy Rains

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Mr Nick Mangwana says old primary schools in Masvingo are being destroyed by the current heavy rains.

Posting on his twitter handle, Mr Mangwana said the way old schools were constructed can not cope with the climate change.

”Truth is, the way we used to construct in rural areas can not withstand the vagaries of climate change today. In Masvingo, a number of old Primary Schools are being damaged by the heavy rains with strong winds currently being experienced.” The post reads.

The Meteorological Services Department (Met) predicted heavy rains that could increase damages through flash flooding around the country from today till Sunday.
