President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged Zanu Pf leaders to get vaccinated, leading by example so as to curb the spread of Covid- 19 under phase two and three of the vaccination program.
The President who received his first Covid- 19 jab in Victoria Falls on Wednesday, called upon the nation to shun conspiracy theories and urged Zimbabweans to get vaccinated for the country to return to normalcy.
Leading by example, President Mnangagwa got vaccinated in full view of the public together with other political members.
Addressing the 350th Ordinary Session of the Politburo at the party Headquarters in Harare yesterday, President Emmerson Mnangagwa called upon the party to lead by example.
”I call upon the party to lead from the front as we continue to mobilize our people to get vaccinated under phase two and ultimately Phase three, which will target our grassroots population across the country until we realize herd immunity.” He said.
President Mnangagwa said the vaccination program had been overwhelmingly received by stakeholders from across all socio – economic and political divide.
He urged people to avoid unnecessary travel and gatherings as we approach the Easter holidays so as to curb the spread of Covid- 19.
”As we approach the Easter Holidays, l urge all of us to avoid unnecessary travel and gatherings. Covid -19 is still a reality and let us therefore remain alert and keep adhering to the World Health Organization (WHO) Guidelines.” He said.
Meanwhile, Zanu Pf Officials posted on their twitter handle urging people not to politicize the vaccination exercise.
”It is the wish of HE @edmnangagwa to be secure from Covid- 19 pandemic. Let us not politicize the vaccination exercise, other political parties can join Zanu Pf in the vaccination process.” The post reads.
