As if to distinguish between the months of April and May as the end of the summer season and the beginning of the winter season, a sharp contrast is expected between today the last day of April and tomorrow the first day of May.

In a statement, the meteorological service department (Met) said in most parts of the country, cloudy but warm conditions should be expected during the day but in the evening, light showers with possible thunder will be expected.

“Cloudy and warm conditions are expected over Matabeleland South and North by mid- morning, with the clouds slowly spreading into Bulawayo metropolitan and the Midlands.

“By evening Harare Metropolitan, Masvingo , Manicaland Provinces should have scattered clouds , though under clear skies and cool morning conditions at first .

“In all areas, these clouds may be coupled with isolated light showers as well as outburst of thunder. ” The statement read.

However, by tomorrow the weather is expected to change into winter with cloudy, windy and cool conditions expected.

“The first of May begins with a veer in the winds from the current northerly to cool south easterly. As such, cloudy, windy, and cool conditions are expected over Matabeleland South, Bulawayo Metropolitan , Manicaland, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland Central and Masvingo Provinces. Light showers are probable especially over high ground.
