Soccer Legend Remains In Custody For Sodomy

Zimbabwe soccer legend, Itai Stanley Chirambadare will remain in custody until May 13 when he is going to face trial.

The former Dynamos defender appeared at Harare Magistrates court yesterday facing allegations of sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy he was coaching at his academy in Mufakose.

Chirambadare was represented by Knowledge Maeresera.

The Dynamos legend was advised by magistrate Dennis Mangosi to apply for bail at the High Court.

His arrest came after allegations that sometime in March this year, the complainant who is 13 years old went to Chirambadare’s house together with his friend to clean as he always do and they would be given sweets.

It is alleged that on the day in question the complainant went to Chirambadare’s house alone to sweep.

The accused person allegedly asked the complainant to get into the house before he forced him into his bedroom and sexually assaulted him and told him not to reveal the abuse.

The former assistant Dynamos coach allegedly threatened to kill the complainant if he revealed the abuse to anyone.

More so, he went on to abuse the complainant on several occasions and this led the complainant to report the abuse to the police which led to Chirambadare’s arrest.

The soccer legend joined Dynamos in 1981 and broke into the first team in 1984. He remained at the Glamour Boys until 1991 when he called time on his football career. The legend briefly joined Arcadia United for six months in 1986 and returned to Dynamos.

Chirambadare is brother to former Dynamos Football Club goalkeeper  Ernest Chirambadare.
