The Zimbabwe Republic Police recovered 945 grams of cocaine which have a street value of ZW$7 560 000 at Robert Mugabe International Airport last Monday.
In a statement, ZRP said the cocaine was found inside an undergarment of the suspect and the police managed to detect the suspect under a surveillance camera.
“The cocaine weighing 945g was stashed into a foreign suspect undergarment, the suspect has been placed under surveillance as she is believed to have ingested some of the plastic balls containing the cocaine in a bid to avoid detention at the airport,” said the police.
Meanwhile, the police also confirmed that four suspects were arrested in connection of two cases of poaching in Human Ranch, Sabi area.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police also confirms the arrest of four suspects Elias Chiumira {20}, Odwell Madhuku {33}, Elias Shoma {27} and Nelson Bundwa {47} on 8 of May 2021 in Human Ranch, Sabi area in connection with two cases of poaching. Three of the suspects were arrested while hunting with dogs and machetes, the other suspect was tracked to his homestead where a leopard carcass and four wire snares were recovered, “they added.
The police insisted that they were tightening their security points to avoid all criminal activities reiterating that they also managed to arrest two criminals who smuggled goods in Beitbridge.
” In unrelated incident on 7 May 2021 police arrested three suspects who had smuggled various goods in two vehicles. The vehicle and the goods had since been impounded pending further investigations,” the statement further read.
