SA Moves To Level 4 Lockdown

South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa has moved the Covid -19 lockdown to level 4 for 14 days starting today due to the increase in the third wave Covid-19 cases.

Ramaphosa said the variant that has been found in 5 provinces in South Africa is stronger than the previous two.

“We don’t know how long it will last but looks longer. We seem tired of wearing masks, social distancing and we are complacent but it comes at a high prices. We must watch our guard.” Ramaposa said.

The Southern African country was therefore placed to a curfew starting from 9pm to 4am.

Furthermore, President Ramaphosa banned funerals and all gatherings.

“All gatherings banned indoor or outdoor, funerals not more than 50. Night vigils after funerals banned, beaches and parks open but no gatherings, all alcohol sales banned.” He added.

Meanwhile, Ramaphosa said businesses will operate under strict regulations and schools will be closed to avoid further infections on students.

“Schools to close Wednesday 30 June, businesses to operate but observing health regulations, wearing of face masks compulsory to cover nose and mouth.” He said.

South Africa is now vaccinating more than 100 000 people per day. More vaccines were received yesterday, Pfizer and J & J.
