Police To Strictly Enforce Covid-19 Lockdown

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says they will ensure that the curfew order imposed by the government from 18.30 hours till 06.30 hours the following morning is strictly adhered to.

“All unnecessary movements by the public will be dealt with and arrests effected.” ZRP said in a statement.

The Police warned churches who are violating the curfew by holding night vigils saying they will be severely dealt with.

“Members of the public who are holding church gatherings which include all night prayers by some religious groups are warned and implored to comply with the government’s ban on gatherings,” the statement read in part.

Only funerals are allowed gatherings with a maximum of 30 people.

Transportation violators were not left behind.

“Transporters who will be found contravening the government’s intercity passenger traffic ban will have their staff arrested and the buses impounded.” The statement further read.

Mshika shika and pirate taxes were banned.
