Zanu Pf Youth Leader, Tendai Chirau says Zimbabwean youths are war veterans in ensuring that the Zimbabwean economy gets back to normal.
He said this in Harare yesterday during the signing of the ZW 2.5 million Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) loan between the Zimbabwe Integrated Traders Association (ZITA) and Empower bank, a partnership which will ensure that all members under ZITA will be able to freely apply for loans at the bank.
Chirau urged Zimbabwean youths to participate in developmental projects that will help the economy to grow whilst comparing Zimbabwean youths with war vets whom he said brought liberation to this country hence he reiterated that youths must do likewise in liberating Zimbabwe from it’s economic woes.
“The youth of the liberation struggle their role was to dismantle colonialism and they managed to win then we are the beneficiaries of that same independence so our role now is to make sure that we participate in the economic revival of this country so as the young people we are the war vets we are the fighters to make sure that this country overtakes and accelerates other countries in the economic front,” he said.
He also emphasized that although Empowerbank is a government bank which is likely to be connected with the ruling party it’s mandate is to empower Zimbabwean youths and assist them in business regardless of their religious or political differences.
“Empowerbank is a product of the new dispensation under the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the bank is meant for youths not only for youths of a certain political party but it is meant for the youths that are determent to get into businesses so whatever your tribe or whatever your religious aspect, no matter your political affiliation wherever you came from Empowerbank is there for you,” added Chirau.
Meanwhile, Acting CEO of Empowerbank, Mr Shadreck Mhembere urged Zimbabwean youths and companies to apply for business loans which will financially support them in alleviating their businesses.
“You can come as a company we actually encourage young people to formalize and register businesses because we want to mainstream young people so that we encourage youths to form companies,” he said.
Empowerbank is a youth focused bank owned 100% by the government of Zimbabwe. It was launched on the 5th of July 2018 by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to help Zimbabwean youths who are in the business sector as well as those who want to start their businesses with financial support.
