Met Department Denies Rumor Of Record Breaking Cold Friday

The Meteorological (Met) Service Department has denied news circulating on social media that Friday 16 July 2021 will be the coldest day in Southern Africa.

The Met department rather predicted that tomorrow, Friday will be mild and sunny.

“Wednesday: Cloudy and Cold South, Sunny and Mild North, Few afternoon showers,

“Thursday: Cloudy East, Sunny West,

“Friday: Sunny and Mild everywhere😊,

“NB: No Record Breaking Cold Conditions expected.” Met said.

Below is the message that has been circulating, reiterating that the weather will be very cold on Friday with temperatures ranging as low as below zero in the whole of Southern Africa.

“Southern African Weather Group Friday July 16 will be a very cold day in Southern Africa. Forecast temperature for Lusaka for that today are now adjusted to a maximum of 15° and a minimum of 2°. Harare will be projected to a maximum of 17° and Minimum of 1°. Lilongwe will be projected to a maximum of 19° and a minimum of 6° with Blantyre settling on a minimum of 4° or lower. Serenje in Zambia will flirt with the freezing point whereas Choma, Gweru, Johannesburg and Marondera will head subzero (below zero) momentarily joining Maseru and Bloemfontein. It will be close to freezing point in Francistown and Bulawayo more like Lusaka and Harare.”

The Met department said this is not true.
