MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa says his party will remain firm despite Zanu Pf interference in trying to destroy the opposition party’s political structures.
The MDC Alliance President claims came after MDC T leader Douglas Mwonzora who was the former MDC Alliance Secretary General joined the MDC T which was then led by Thokozani Khupe.
Mwonzora is being accused by the MDC Alliance of being a puppet to the ruling party and being President Mnangagwa’s ally who is being used to destroy the Nelson Chamisa led party from the political arena.
Posting on his twitter handle, advocate Nelson Chamisa pointed out that he is aware of the fact that the cornered former revolutionary party is desperate to neutralize the MDC Alliance strategies.
He added that the Zanu Pf political strategies which it has been using up to now to flash out the MDC Alliance party has all failed to bear fruits.
“They tried to destroy us but they failed, they tried to replace us but they failed, they tried to silence us but they failed, they tried to hoodwink the people but they failed, they tried every strategy to supplant us but they failed and they also tried to sink our ship but they failed,” he said.
However, the opposition party has experienced political setbacks with which they claim it was an architecture orchestrated by the ruling party to decimate the opposition.
MDC Alliance, a party recognized by the majority of supporters in Zimbabwe especially youths, last year lost its leadership in the House of Assembly via the expulsion of its MPs and councilors (a total of 31 MPs), along with access to finances. The cherry on top of it was losing the party’s historical headquarters, the house of Morgan Tsvangirai.
Meanwhile, early last year Mnangagwa announced that those who oppose the government would be “flushed-out” and throughout the year the country witnessed cases of abductions, torture and harassment of citizens and opposition party members.
Currently, MDC Alliance principals have removed the MDC-T from the grouping, accusing it of acting unilaterally without consulting them, a move that will likely throw off the rails the decision by the Douglas Mwonzora-led party to use the alliance name in the forthcoming by-elections.
