MDC T leader, Douglas Mwonzora has responded to allegations of his party fleeing their offices and holding meetings elsewhere due to water shortages at the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai house saying the real cause of the flee was a Covid -19 out break.
Yesterday, an independent paper reported that Mwonzora’s party was forced to shut down its offices at the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House after the Harare City Council cut water supplies over unpaid bills amounting to over $1,9 million.
Allegations were also that Mwonzora’s party failed to pay it’s workers since December hence they were avoiding the angry workers.
Reports has it that the opposition party on Wednesday held its standing committee meeting at a church premise in Hatfield which was hired due to the water crisis issue as well as fear of being beaten up by angry party vigilantes who have not been paid since last year.
However Douglas Mwonzora defended himself and his party saying the shutdown was just temporary and caused by the positive Covid 19 cases at the offices.
“The temporary shutdown was due to three confirmed Covid 19 cases. The period ended yesterday. Thank you Our MDCT administration for taking that responsible approach.” Mwonzora posted on social media.
