I’m Campaigning For More POLAD Vehicles- Madhuku

Leader of the opposition NCA party, Professor Lovemore Madhuku says he is not at all bothered by the criticism from most Zimbabweans who are disagreeing with him and his associates for accepting vehicles from President Mnangagwa when hospitals are having shortages of ambulances among other economic issues.

Speaking during a news conference in Harare this afternoon, Prof Madhuku said it is his right as a politician to receive vehicles from the government and said he is actually campaigning for three other vehicles as one is not enough.

“We believe that we are entitled to these vehicles, we will actually campaign for more vehicles for our party because with one vehicle surely it’s not enough because it will only be used by the president but we would expect a minimum of three vehicles,” says Madhuku.

President Mnangagwa last Friday handed over Isuzu D-Max vehicles to 16 of the 2018 presidential candidates including Lovemore Madhuku while three went to the secretariat.

The beneficiaries were told that they can own the vehicles for three years.

Madhuku added that he will use the vehicle to build his NCA party so that they win in the 2023 Presidential elections.

“We will use these vehicles to build our party, there is nothing wrong with that.” He said.

POLAD was established by Mnangagwa in 2018 as a platform to engage with other presidential election candidates in that year’s election hence Madhuku said his party believes in POLAD.

“We are losers of the 2018 elections, and now we are working with the winner. We believe in POLAD and POLAD is a good thing for the country, winners must work with losers. POLAD Vehicles are government vehicles. What we were given were rights to use the vehicles for POLAD purposes and for the work of our political parties.” He said.

Madhuku, who got 2,692 votes in 2018, less that 5 percent of the vote said he now has a greater chance of winning the Presidential election in 2023 as he now has access to expand his campaign strategies to all corners of the country with the new vehicle and in three days time he will go to Gokwe then Mutoko.
