Harare City Council Announces 24 Hours Of Dry Taps

The Harare City Council says there will be a complete shutdown of two of it’s main waterworks, the Morton Jaffray and Warren Control from today 6 August at 4pm until tomorrow August 7 at 4pm.

In a statement, Harare acting town clerk, Engineer Phakamile Moyo said the shutdown will be due to maintenance of critical works.

“The shutdown is to allow for the cleaning of suction pipes at Warren Control Pump Station, repairs on a clarifier and maintenance on four critical trunk mains.” Read the statement.

Engineer Moyo urged residents to use the water sparingly during the shutdown.

“Repairs will result in the reduction of physical water losses currently obtaining in the system.

“Residents are encouraged to use water sparingly during this time.” The statement further read.

The complete shutdown will see most of Harare residents going into the weekend without running water, an issue that might evoke further Covid- 19 infections since the preventive regulations require continuous washing of hands.
