Zimbabwe senior national soccer team are set to accomplish a tough assignment in a tricky group for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.
From the draw conducted last night in Yaoundé, Cameroon, the Warriors are in group B along with Senegal, Guinea and Malawi.
Senegal which is one of the best teams in Africa appears to be a big threat for warriors as compared to other teams in group B.
With Zdravko Logarusic loosing in COSAFA and CHAN tournaments in the previous months, the Afcon competitions will ensure that the Croatian coach displays his talent on how capable he is in restoring back the lost trust to the nation.
At the draw in Cameroon the country was represented by ZIFA president Felton Kamambo and national teams’ general manager, Wellington Mpandare.
Zimbabwe was in Pot 3 alongside Cape Verde, Gabon, Mauritania, Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau.
Meanwhile, the AFCON competitions were originally scheduled for June and July 2021, however the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which organised the event, in January 2020 said it would be played in January and February of 2021.
But in June 2020 CAF moved the competition to January 2022 due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
