Chelsea defender, Emerson Palmieri has joined Lyon on loan for the remainder of the season.
Emerson joined the Blues from Roma in January 2018 for an initial £17.6m, winning the Champions League, Europa League, European Super Cup and FA Cup, but struggled to displace both Marcos Alonso and Ben Chilwell from the side.
The player, a member of the Italy squad that won Euro 2020, made his 71st appearance for Chelsea as a substitute in their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace.
He made just two appearances in the Premier League last season, with both coming from the substitute’s bench, though he did play a role under Thomas Tuchel on the road to Porto.
Emerson made four appearances at Euro 2020, winning the latest of his 19 caps as the Azzurri beat England on penalties in the final at Wembley.
He will now spend the season with Lyon, who have one point from their opening two league matches this term and will play in the Europa League.
Lyon will pay a loan fee of up to £1m for the 27-year-old Italy international, who can play at left-back or wing-back.
