People With HIV Can Be Vaccinated Against Covid 19 – MoHCC

Ministry of Health and Child Care has cleared on the issue of Covid-19 vaccination on people with underlying medical conditions such as HIV, cancer, asthma, hypertension, diabetes, liver and kidney problems as it boost their immunity. 

This came following doubts about the vaccine and various false reports circulating on social media about taking the Covid-19 jab especially to people with underling conditions.

To date, a total of 2 312 417 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

In a statement, the Ministry of health however urged people with underlying conditions to get vaccinated and continue taking their medications.

“COVID-19 vaccines may be administered to people with underlying conditions, like cancer, asthma, HIV, hypertension and diabetes, liver, and kidney problems and boost their immunity. They are encouraged to continue taking their medication as advised by their medical doctors.” They said.

As at 22 August 2021, Zimbabwe had 122 652 confirmed cases, including 106 810 recoveries and 4 249 deaths.
