Government says it will donate 20 000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines to Namibia so as to buttress the spirit of regional cooperation between the two governments.
Speaking during a Post-Cabinet media briefing Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa said the donation will strengthen bilateral relationship between Zimbabwe and Namibia.
“In the spirit of regional cooperation and solidarity the government of Zimbabwe will donate 20 000 doses of vaccines to the government of Namibia,” she said.
Zimbabwe has been receiving Covid-19 vaccines from other countries with China recently donating 500 000 doses while the Serbian government made a donation of 7 000 Sputinic V doses.
Meanwhile, Namibia is currently mired in its third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and the surge has exposed the country’s health infrastructure.
Next month Zimbabwe is expecting to receive another 2,5million doses of Covid -19 vaccines under direct purchase and 943 200 under the Covax program as the country stir up efforts to attain herd immunity.
