Chamisa Thrashed On Social Media For Zim Vaccination ‘Ignorance’

MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa has been criticised on social media for the remarks he made during an interview with Zambia’s Diamond TV concerning the procurement of the Covid-19 vaccine in Zimbabwe.

In a video circulating on social media, Chamisa was asked whether he gives credit to Mnangagwa’s government for their achievement in the vaccination program and he said, “Vaccination is not done by government, vaccination is done by individuals who opt to be vaccinated but on this matter, it is actually all donated by other countries. In this day and age we are not even talking about our own pharmaceutical capacities, having our own laboratories as an African continent to develop our own vaccines. Why should we wait for donors to deal with our health?”

Presidential spokesperson, George Charamba through his Jamwanda account on twitter captioned the video with “HAANA PLAN UYU!!!!” followed by laughing emojis.

Pro Zanu PF activist, Kudzai Mutisi said, “Zim opposition completely missed the notion of political opposition… You don’t have to oppose & criticise everything, that’s irrational criticism. Politics should be interesting & intellectual, not the crass rhetoric we see in Zimbabwe… Upgrade your politics folks.”

“Saying Vaccines were all donated is totally not factual. There is no harm in acknowledging what the Gvt is doing or have done to date.” Timothy Makambwa said.

“Eish but this is embarrassing. You don’t lose anything by giving credit where it’s due. Actually it builds your profile as a rational individual.” The Enias said.

Sam Garwe said, “Chamisa is just an airhead! To him every issue has to be politicised.”
However, Chamisa’s supporters disagree with the criticism. Journalist
Hopewell Chin’ono urged Zimbabweans not to criticise Chamisa but to correct him nicely when he is in the wrong.
@mdczimbabwe or @nelsonchamisa to roll up your sleeves & help them. At this point the struggle against looting, plunder and tyranny is needing DOERS not analysts. Identify weaknesses and contribute in fixing them!” He said.
J Chikerz said Chamisa is right.
“He is right! The health sector is in shambles. Poorly equipped isolation centers. Demoralised under paid health workers. Available vaccines being given at a snail pace because there’s capacity constraints at clinics. Weaponising Covid-19 against opposition MDCA.” He posted on twitter.
Joni Snow agreed with the MDC Alliance president that there is need for Zimbabwe to manufacture their own medicine.
“We need our own capable scientists, equipped with enough resources & labs so we can create our own medicines and vaccines. Clearly you believe in waiting on the Chinese and Americans. We will always be second class citizens of the world with your kind of mentality.” Joni Snow posted on twitter.
The Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa on Wednesday during a post cabinet briefing said the government has so far acquired 13 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, mainly from China.

She said during the month of September, Zimbabwe is expected to receive another 2.5 million doses of vaccines under direct purchase, and 943,200 doses under the COVAX program.
