MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa has been criticised on social media for the remarks he made during an interview with Zambia’s Diamond TV concerning the procurement of the Covid-19 vaccine in Zimbabwe.
In a video circulating on social media, Chamisa was asked whether he gives credit to Mnangagwa’s government for their achievement in the vaccination program and he said, “Vaccination is not done by government, vaccination is done by individuals who opt to be vaccinated but on this matter, it is actually all donated by other countries. In this day and age we are not even talking about our own pharmaceutical capacities, having our own laboratories as an African continent to develop our own vaccines. Why should we wait for donors to deal with our health?”
Presidential spokesperson, George Charamba through his Jamwanda account on twitter captioned the video with “HAANA PLAN UYU!!!!” followed by laughing emojis.
Pro Zanu PF activist, Kudzai Mutisi said, “Zim opposition completely missed the notion of political opposition… You don’t have to oppose & criticise everything, that’s irrational criticism. Politics should be interesting & intellectual, not the crass rhetoric we see in Zimbabwe… Upgrade your politics folks.”
“Saying Vaccines were all donated is totally not factual. There is no harm in acknowledging what the Gvt is doing or have done to date.” Timothy Makambwa said.
“Eish but this is embarrassing. You don’t lose anything by giving credit where it’s due. Actually it builds your profile as a rational individual.” The Enias said.
She said during the month of September, Zimbabwe is expected to receive another 2.5 million doses of vaccines under direct purchase, and 943,200 doses under the COVAX program.
