This Year’s School Calendar Out

The ministry of primary and secondary education has released a full school calendar for 2021 as it hopes for normalcy after Covid-19 disruptions.

Speaking during a Post-Cabinet media briefing on Wednesday, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa had announced the reopening of schools with exam classes to resume face to face lessons on August 30 while the rest of the learners will join them on September 6.

“Cabinet is advising that schools will reopen on 30 August 2021 that is for examination classes and on 6 September 2021 for non examination classes,” she had said.

Students who missed the second term due to ravaging third wave of the Covid- 19 pandemic will be in school for 80 days before taking a 24-day holiday.

Schools will reopen on Monday next week and close on December 17 and they will open on January 11 for the first term of 2022.

Schools have been closed since June 4 when the country recorded a surge in Covid -19 cases and fatalities.

In recent weeks, there has been a steady fall in confirmed cases and as a result the government in conjunction with the ministry of education necessitated the need for the reopening of schools.
