Agricultural Show Set For September

The 111th Zimbabwe Agricultural show (ZAS) this year will be held from the 27th of September to the 1st October 2021.

Addressing the media in Harare yesterday, ZAS Chief Executive Officer, Dr Andrew Matibiri said the show will be held in strict adherence to covid-19 protocols.

He said the official opening of the agricultural show will be held on Thursday, 30 September.

“The theme for the show is “Synergies for Growth – Cooperate, Collaborate, Complement” to rally support for the cause of agriculture and attendant value chains for increased “Production Productivity and Profitability, whereas the sub-theme is “Celebrating Unprecedented Growth.”

“All exhibitors to the show require to have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19,” he said.

Matibiri said there will be booths outside the park where visitors can get free tests for Covid-19.

“There will be booths outside the park where visitors can get free test for Covid -19, while inside the park there will also be booths where free vaccinations against Covid-19 will be available,

“The number of people allowed into each hall will be monitored and controlled to ensure compliance with recommended maximum crowd sizes, park grounds, roads and halls will be disinfected before the start of the show,” said Matibiri.

He went on to say drone surveillance will be used to monitor and manage the crowds

“Drone surveillance will be used to monitor and manage the crowds to ensure strict adherence to the Ministry of Healthy and World Healthy Organization(WHO) guidelines, motor vehicle movement will not be allowed in the park during the show,” he said.

The annual National Agribusiness Conference will be held on Wednesday, 29 September 2021 and the show as well will be available on a Virtual Platform.

Agricultural Show came into being during the Rhodesian era when the country was still under colonial rule.

The main idea behind the launch of the show was to share and exchange ideas.
