Mary Mliswa Praises Seed Co For Giving Back To The Community

Minister of state for provincial affairs and devolution for Mashonaland West Province, Mary Mliswa has commended Seed Co for venturing into corporate social responsibility programs whilst giving back to the community.

Speaking during the official opening of the Seed Co seed conditioning plant in Mount Harpden yesterday, Minister Mliswa praised Seed Co for recently partnering with the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) in raising awareness on managing the environment.

“Seed Co is also very big in Corporate Social Responsibility Programs, recently they partnered with the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) to raise awareness on managing veld fires and protecting our bumper harvest, wildlife and the environment,

“Seed Co also pays tuition for 20 children at the neighboring community school called Saint Marnocks ,every year they pay tuition for 10 children in Primary and 10 in Secondary School at Sant Marnocks.

“Mashonaland West is home to a number of educational instituions, this helps in alleviating and managing issues that are bedeviling young children and our youths,” said Mliswa.

Furthermore, Minister Mliswa also praised Seed Co for providing employment to Zimbabweans around the country.

“Seed Co also employs a number of people from neighboring communities, it has another huge investment in the province in Kadoma,” she said.

Seed Co Ltd (Seed Co) was founded in 1940 as the Seed Maize Association (SMA) of Zimbabwe. In 1983, the SMA merged with the Crop Seeds Association to form Seed Co and has since grown throughout Africa by breeding, producing and marketing hybrid field crops.
