ZESA Shuts Down Mbare Flats

The Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) has detach 58 Mbare hostels due to non-observance to pay bills.

Earlier this month the power utility announced that it will move to detach  customers who would have failed to pay electricity bills, in a move at improving recoveries of monies caused by several electricity consumers which includes individuals, municipalities, organizations, and co-operations.

In a statement on Tuesday, City of Harare advised residents to organize themselves and pay for the areas.

“Council is urging residents of the 58 Mbare Hostels to organize themselves and pay for their electricity,” read the statement.

The residents have not been paying and were recently disconnected.
