ZACC On Anti Corruption Drive

Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), Hon Justice Loyce Matanda -Moyo has announced that ZACC is in a move to end corruption in Zimbabwe through signing Memorandum Of Understandings (MOU)s by various institutions both local and regional.

Speaking during a National Workshop on Inter – Agency Coordination in Harare this morning, Hon Matanda -Moyo said ZACC already signed an MOU with the anti corruption commission of Zambia in a bid to end corruption.

“I am happy to advice that Zimbabwe has already signed a Memorandum Of Understanding with the anti corruption commission of Zambia. Locally Zimbabwe signed about 19 MOUs. Zimbabwe signed a memorandum of understanding with the auditor general here present and we have began implementing the MOU.

“The Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission at the moment is making sure that the auditor general’s recommendations are being implemented throughout the organisations in Zimbabwe.” She said.

Hon Matanda- Moyo however stressed that corruption requires joining hands with all sectors so that the nation can win against it.

“Most corruption cases are further complicated by their multi jurisdictional scope and technological advances thus combating corruption and laundering of the proceeds of corruption can not be undertaken by a single agency acting in isolation no matter how competent this agency and it’s staff may be.

“It is vital to note that depending on the case under investigations, one institution may have jurisdiction over a predicate crime of corruption and it is precisely because this jurisdiction belongs to a single agency that it is essential for there to be cooperation in combating corruption. It takes joint efforts at local, regional and international levels to win and fight against this menace.” She said.

Moreover, Hon Matanda -Moyo said ZACC joined hands with eternal auditors of various institutions in the fight against corruption.

“Our department has joined hands with eternal auditors of various institutions to ensure that they make sure that all those recommendations are implemented and I am happy to say that most of the government departments, most of the the parastatals are implementing the auditor general’s implementation.” She added.

Corruption in Zimbabwe is on a high rate with bosses in higher offices reported to be more involved in corruption cases.
