The Namibian Walvis Bay representatives have visited Zimbabwe to strengthen economic relationship between the two countries.
The Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG) is a public-private partnership established in 2000 to promote the utilisation of the Walvis Bay Corridors in the Republic of Namibia.
The corridors, serving the port, is a network of transport routes from the neighboring SADC countries of South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Malawi.
Speaking during an event to promote the port of Walvis Bay as the preferred Logistics Hub to the Zimbabwean market in Harare today, Deputy Chief Secretary in the office of the President, Engineer Amos Marowa said the visit by the Namibian delegates was made possible by the second republic which provides a platform for investors.
Engineer Marowa said the event will provide for economic developments between Zimbabwe and Namibia.
“The most important issue on this trade mission is to engage all relevant stakeholders in Zimbabwe who deal with imports and exports.
“We also want to emphasize the mantra that Zimbabwe is open for business as we all know. The declaration by the second republic has created conducive environment for investors to come to our beautiful country and this is now evidenced by such trade mission visits as this one. I am very confident that this visit will bring credible results for the economic developments of our two sister countries.” He said.
Furthermore, engineer Marowa stressed how the event is going to improve the transport situation in Zimbabwe.
“It is satisfying to note that the two ministries of transport in Zimbabwe and Namibia are going to look at the challenges under the transport logistics..
“The two ministries are discussing the improvement of the railway line linking Zimbabwe with Namibia through the Walvis bay port.” He said.
The event was also graced by Namibian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Nicklaas Kandinjii who commended good relations between Zimbabwe and Namibia.
