Harare football giants, Caps United has sacked their head coach Darlington Dodo.
Dodo dismissal came just a few days after the commencement of the Premier Soccer League season.
The reason why Dodo was sacked presided over Caps United poor run in the Chibuku Super Cup tournament which resulted to their elimination whist in group stages, winning just two matches from a possible 10.
Caps United President Mr Farai Jere yesterday said they wish Dodo a good luck wherever he goes whilst giving assurance that they are in the process of finding his replacement.
“We have released Darlington Dodo. Things were just not working out during his tenure. We won just two matches out of 10 and that is not a good return. So we decided it was best that we let him go. We thank him for his effort and wish him the best in the future. We are looking to appoint a new coach before the weekend matches,” he said.
Moreover Jere denied to specifically name the coach whom they want at the club but insisted that when they are going to play their weekend league match a new coach will be available at Caps.
“About Chitembwe, it is mere speculation, I cannot comment further. What I can say is that we will have a new coach in place by the time we play our league game at the weekend,” he said.
Under Dodo, Caps struggled, particularly for goals as they drew most of their Chibuku Super Cup matches which resulted in them being eliminated on the tournament whist at group stages.
Meanwhile, the Green Machine kick off the league with an away tie against ZPC Kariba this weekend.
Coaches like Lloyd Chitembwe are reportedly favorites to take over the green machine’s job, however the club is insisting that he is not part of their plans.
