Cape Town – South Africa continued to see a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases, with 22 391 new infections recorded on Thursday, according to the National Department of Health.
This brings the country’s cumulative number of Covid-19 cases to 3 093 452,
A total of 75 251 tests were conducted, with a positivity rate of 29.8%.
A further 22 Covid-19 related deaths were reported, bringing the total fatalities to 90 060, the department said.
“As of today the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in SA is 3 093 452 with 22 391 new cases reported. Today 22 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 90 060 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 2 870 329 with a recovery rate of 92,8%” the department said in a statement.
