Warriors Commence Training For Afcon

The Warriors finally commenced their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals preparations on Sunday after undergoing tests for coronavirus.

All the players and officials tested negative.

They conducted their first training session at the National Sports Stadium with 23 players.

The Warriors camp officially started on 23 December.

However, National teams’ general manager Wellington Mpandare said:

“We are all good to go and training proper starts today.

“We went through all the necessary health and safety protocols and everyone came out clean.

“Now we are getting into the business side of why we are here.”

Meanwhile, Houston Dynamo defender Teenage Hadebe is expected to join camp this Monday after missing from the first training session.

Mpandare said Hadebe “has some delicate family issues” and is currently in Bulawayo.

Some of Zimbabwe’s foreign-based players will fly directly to Cameroon, among them captain Knowledge Musona, Tino Kadewere, Jordan Zemura, Admiral Muskwe and David Moyo.
