Warriors captain, Knowledge Musona has thanked the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) for paying players’ allowances timeously.
Speaking recently after joining warriors camp in Cameroon, Musona appreciated SRC move to pay warriors allowances on time.
“I would like to thank the Sports and Recreation Commission [government] for their support in paying players’ allowances on time and the camping of the team in Cameroon since 30 December 2021.
“This means a lot to us as players and we really appreciate it.
“As players, we are extremely grateful because it shows us how deeply our government cares about us and football.
“It will motivate us to do well and fight for the country as we always do.
“The team can now fully focus on preparing well for the tournament without any distractions.
“We are extremely grateful,” he said.
The players nearly boycotted some matches at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals that were hosted by Egypt after the Zimbabwe Football Association {ZIFA} led by Felton Kamambo had failed to pay players in time.
There are fissures between ZIFA and SRC over the alleged misuse of funds at that tournament.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe plays Senegal on the 10th of January.
