Embattled MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khupe has been suspended from the Douglas Mwonzora led party in the latest signs of the bitter fall-out between the former allies.
In a statement today, MDC-T spokesperson Witness Dube said the suspension is with immediate effect.
Dube said the suspension will last the duration of an investigation into “various allegations levelled” against the former deputy prime minister.
However, Thokozani Khupe lawyer Nqobani Sithole said purported suspension of the MDC-T vice president is null and void.
He stressed that party leader Douglas Mwonzora, who wrote to Khupe on January 12 suspending her, expelled himself from party by declaring himself leader of MDC Alliance.
Meanwhile, Khupe has called for a Friday press conference in Bulawayo where she is expected to address her troubles with colleagues.
