YWCAZ Launches Digital And Financial Literacy Training Project

Young Women Christian Association Zimbabwe (YWCAZ) has yesterday launched a digital and financial literacy training project in Bindura which was graced by the ministry of women affairs, representatives from the government, the ward councilor and village heads.

In an interview with 263times, YWCAZ National General Secretary Muchanyara Cynthia Mukamuri said the purpose of the launch is to train women on how best they can sell their goods through social media.

“Technology can play an important role in reducing operating cost.

“A number of women in this area are failing to maintain the pace in terms of using social media platforms for buying and selling, online lessons and zoom in meetings yet they only use their phones for going online on WhatsApp.

“It is our hope that our dreams come true as YWCA globally that by 2035 everybody would be digital literate, we are also seeing it as an opportunity for them to develop good communication with the rest of YWCA members all over the world during our Zoom In meetings,” she said.

In addition Mukamuri said they are going to get InTouch with Telecel, Econet or Netone to talk to them about the issue of poor network in Chiveso rural.

“We need to visit Telecel, Econet or Netone and talk to them about the issue of network problems that the Chiveso rural is going through then we see who can provide good service since this project requires an active fast network,” added Mukamuri.

YWCAZ Mashonaland Region Chairperson, Tendai Padya said she is happy to be with the YWCAZ members in Chiveso, they promise to bring them Lenovo tablets for use as they learn how to be active on social media.

“We are going to bring the members of YWCAZ in Chiveso rural a Lenovo tablet so that they can learn how to be active on social media platforms making life easy for them as they get intouch with us and do their business online,” she said.

Chiveso Headman, Tendai Chiveso said she is grateful to the YWCAZ for coming over to Chiveso, to encourage the women to be active on all social media platforms and learn how to advertise their goods on social media.

YWCAZ is considering opening their YWCAZ Chiveso preschool where doors will soon be opened for every pupil in Chiveso and teachers got awarded employment opportunities.
