Crisis In Zimbabwe Coalition (CZC) chairman Mr Peter Mutasa on Sunday promised Zimbabweans freedom if they voted for Advocate Nelson Chamisa’s party in the upcoming March 26 by-elections
Mutasa said this at Zimbabwe grounds where he was a guest and addressed thousands of Citizens Coalition for Change {CCC} supporters who were gathered for the party’s inaugural by-election campaign.
The firebrand former President of Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Union (ZCTU) was full of praise for CCC, pinning Zimbabwe’s hope of future success on the newly established party and it’s youthful leader..
“Look there, there is freedom. I am seeing it. If you are not seeing it, find it,” he said
Mutasa’s message on freedom comes at a time most Zimbabweans are facing severe economic hardships coupled with rising inflation, high unemployment and the failure of the state to allow citizens to enjoy libertties such as freedom of association after the authorities tried to frustrate CCC supporters from flocking to Highfield for the party’s maiden rally.
There were many roadblocks set up around the capital city of Harare on the day of the rally. Internet connectivity was also blocked in the Highfield area during the massively subscribed gathering.
The ruling party Zanu Pf however blames western sanctions for the economic challenges facing the country. It accuses the opposition of working in cahoots with the West to effect regime change in the country.
