China Reacts To US And Allies Sanctions On Russia

China has disapproved of the United States {US} and its allies imposition of heavy sanctions on Russia.

The response comes after the United States, the 27 member strong European Union and other Western allies announced sanctions against Russian banks and leading companies and imposed export controls aimed at starving the country’s industries and military of semiconductors and other high tech products.

China accused the US and its allies of worsening the crisis and “called on parties to respect others’ legitimate security concerns.”

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunyin said that “all parties should work for peace, instead of escalating the tension or hyping up the possibility of war.”

China went further and approved increased imports of wheat from Russia, a move that could reduce the impact of Western sanctions.

Russia, one of the biggest wheat producers, would be vulnerable if foreign markets were closed off although with it’s position as a leading Oil and Gas Exporter would mean the ripple effects of sanctions also trickle back to the rest of the world economy.
