The Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) rally in Kwekwe yesterday ended in chaos after violent activities by suspected Zanu PF supporters claimed a life and left many injured.
In a statement, police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner, Paul Nyathi confirmed the death saying 16 suspects were arrested.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirms the violent incident which occurred in Kwekwe this afternoon in which one person died. The ZRP also confirms that 16 suspects have been picked up in connection with the incident,” Ass Comm Nyathi said yesterday.
He further said investigations are underway.
“Police investigations are now in progress and more details will be released,” he said.
CCC party leader, Advocate Nelson Chamisa was addressing party supporters at Mbizo shops in Kwekwe in line with the upcoming by elections when the incident occurred.
