Major Boost For Farmers As NuFert Launches New Fertiliser

The Zimbabwe agricultural sector has received a major boost as NuFert, a division of Origin Group launched Eco Black Urea Fertiliser in Mount Harpden today.

Speaking at the launch NuFert Managing Director, Mr Anton Brown revealed the advantages of Eco Black Urea fertilizers in large and small scale farming.

He said Eco Black Urea is different from other fertilizers because it is resistant to leaching.

” We introduced Eco Black Urea 15 years ago and it has been accepted in our communities especially in the maize side.

“Zimbabwean growers have used Ammonia Munitrade fertilizer. It is a good product but what we have in the past is that Ammonia Munitrade tends to leach through the soil in heavy rain seasons where the Eco Black Urea comes to its own, it doesn’t leach,” he said.

Meanwhile, General Manager of 600 Zimbabwe, which is also a division of Origin Corporation highlighted the benefits of  grain storage facility to farmers.

“Our facility comprises of  five silos and a dryer. We have got Stay Well which is on our Origin Group. It does the contract for farmers giving them finance to grow. The NuFert will provide the fertilizer and then after harvest it will come into the grain handling facility for storage,” he said.

NuFert fertilizer was established in January 2016 as a division of Origin Co-operation.

Over the years it has become a major supplier of prescription blends which are tailor made for specific nutrient requirements for individual soils and crops.
