CCC Celebrates Women’s Day

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has joined the rest of the world in celebrating International Women’s Day.

This years International Women’s Day is celebrated under the theme, Gender Equality Today For a Sustainable Tomorrow.

In a statement this morning, the CCC said this year’s theme is tallying with their agenda of having gender balance in the Parliament.

“This year’s theme resonates with our agenda for 50/50 gender balance in parliamentary and council candidates in the General Election. It also comes at a time when we are calling for an end to political violence by the regime in Harare during the by- election campaign period and beyond.” Read part of the statement.

Furthermore, CCC stressed how their party is bringing hope to women in Zimbabwe.

“It is pertinent at this juncture to observe that the newly- born CCC has brought hope for women and a platform for us to pursue the women’s rights agenda and restore the dignity of women in particular and the greater society following over four decades of suffering under Zanu PF misrule. ” The statement further read.

The Nelson Chamisa led party further urged women all over the country to register to vote.

International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8 to mark and celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and raise awareness about women’s equality, accelerate gender parity.

International Women’s Day was first celebrated in 1911.
