ZLHR Goes To Court Following CCC Marondera Ban

The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), through its lawyer, Jeremiah Bamu, has filed an application at the High Court on behalf of CCC, seeking to overturn the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) ban on the CCC Marondera rally which was scheduled for tomorrow.

The ZLHR said the police invoked the provisions of the controversial Maintenance of Peace and Order Act (MOPA) by telling CCC that their notification to hold the rally was invalid.

On 26 February 2022, the CCC went to the High Court after the ZRP banned their Gokwe rally.

The police still went on and used force, teargas and dogs to disperse Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) supporters at the Gokwe rally.
