Namibia Ends Covid 19 Regulations

Namibian President, Hage Geingob has officially ended the Covid-19 regulations and declared that PCR tests for vaccinated visitors are no longer needed.

The presidential declaration came after the country witnessed a decrease in Covid-19 cases that fell to about 200.

“Wearing of masks in public places is no longer mandator,” President Geingob said in a statement.

Last year Namibia Covid-19 cases were peaked at more than 30 000 per month but currently now recording 14 cases per day with a total of 222 active cases.

According to President Geingob fully vaccinated visitors to Namibia are no longer required to produce negative PCR test results and the visitor numbers are currently at a third of pre-pandemic levels.

He added that travellers to the country are only now allowed to produce a valid vaccination card at points of entry

A population of 1,7 million people have been fully vaccinated out of 21,4 percent population in the country.

Meanwhile, people using public transport and indoors public meetings were encouraged to wear masks.
