YWCAZ Reaches Higher Heights In Chiveso

Young Women Christian Association of Zimbabwe (YWCAZ) has continued to give a hand to lean on to the Chiveso Bindura YWCAZ members by training them to be digital literacy.

In an interview with 263times, YWCAZ Programe Officer, Runyararo Tembani said as YWCAZ they believe that mobile phones can play an important role in uplifting the lives of Chiveso women.

“We are doing the project in this location because we believe that mobile phones can play a perfect role in reducing hunger and poverty as well as bridging the gender divide in the rural areas.

“We have also noted that rural women continue to be marginalized hence digital connectivity through mobile phones is critical in empowering these women by granting them access to market, information and finance sexual reproductive health rights,” she said.

In addition Runyararo Tembani said Chiveso women are not active on social media hence they are trying to address the gender digital gap in Chiveso.

“We are doing the project in this location because we believe that mobile phones can play a perfect role in reducing hunger and poverty as well as bridging the gender divide in the rural areas.

“We have also noted that rural women continue to be marginalized hence digital connectivity through mobile phones is critical to empowering these women by granting them access to market, information and finance sexual reproductive health rights.

“We are building digital capacity of women and girls and support the development of content applications and services that meets women and girls needs, being digital educated helps to build their confidence,” added Runyararo Tembani.

Meanwhile, YWCAZ member Joyce Kambizi urged Chiveso women who have not yet joined YWCAZ to do so and get educated on everything they are missing that improves their way of living.

“YWCAZ has taught us how to manage our online identity, and also to do business on social media so i’m urging everyone out there to join YWCAZ and get lessons on how to be digital literacy, “she said.

Moreover, a grade 7 pupil who has been part of the digital training said she is grateful to have been taught about social media platforms by YWCAZ
