The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says they are investigating cases of robbery around the country, a situation that has become a challenge to a country that used to be safe from robbery.
In a statement, ZRP national spokesperson, assistant commissioner Paul Nyathi reported on a case in which unknown suspects broke into Lobels shop in Bulawayo and flee with valuables.
“On 27/03/22, Police in Bulawayo recorded cases of Unlawful Entry into Premises and Theft which occurred at Lobels biscuits, Belmont, Bulawayo where unknown suspects broke into the company offices and proceeded to the accounts office where they broke a safe and stole cash amounting to US$79 819, ZAR16 739 950, Pula 950, ZWL$110 266 and an HP 250GB Laptop.
“Investigations are underway.” He said.
Meanwhile, over the weekend, the police recorded a car robbery in which a motorist was robbed by men he had assisted with transportation from Harare to Norton.
“On 26/03/22, ZRP Norton Urban recorded a case of robbery where a motorist (53) was robbed of a silver Honda Fit vehicle AFG 0051 after he picked two unknown men at Whitehouse, Harare, destined for Norton.
“Along the way, the suspects attacked the complainant and stole US$200 cash before dumping him in a bush.” Nyathi added.
Furthermore, on 27/03/22, ZRP Beitbridge Urban arrested William Madhuku (35) for possession of a CZ Swiss arms pistol without a magazine at Malindi Transit Shed, Beitbridge.
