ED Tells Zanu Pf Party Members To Embrace Discipline

Zanu Pf party members must embrace discipline and shy away from “seeking acts and practices that derail the party’s mobilisation strategies”, says President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Mnangagwa’s response comes after recent reports that there was factionalism in the ruling party’s internal structures, with some Zanu Pf party members accepting its existence.

Recently, Zanu PF Harare provincial chairperson Goodwills Masimirembwa  said President Mnangagwa advised them to tackle factionalism within the ruling party structures.

“Indeed, there is factionalism in Harare province. President Mnangagwa implored us to deal with it and it will be a thing of the past soon,” he said.

But Addressing the 362nd Ordinary Session of the Politburo in Harare on Wednesday, 8 June 2022, Mnangagwa, said all members are obliged to toe the party line

“Allow me to reiterate that discipline within the party is non-negotiable. Self-seeking acts and practices that derail the party’s mobilisation strategies and cause confusion and division must be uprooted within the rank and file of the party.

“We are a party united by our shared ideology and common values. All of us are subject to the collective wisdom of the party.

“The correct party line must be adhered to once a collective decision has been made.

“We are a party of order with clear procedures and a modus operandi.

“Personal views and opinions must never be smuggled to assume the status of being a party policy,” he said.

Mnangagwa also warned those given positions of responsibility in Zanu Pf party that non-delivery of results will attract consequences.
