Permanent Secretary for Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana, has told health workers that Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, who is also the Minister of Health and Child Care, “will address salary grievances when he returns from his honeymoon.”
Health workers at large hospitals like Parirenyatwa today expressed their discontent with the recent 100% salary increment offer from government, insisting they wanted their salaries in US dollars to cop.
In a Twitter post, which was seemingly later deleted and disowned, Mangwana assured nurses and doctors that Chiwenga would address their plight on his return.
“Peaceful protests have been accepted in this country, especially in this new dispensation. We all know that the minister of health has just been married and is currently in honeymoon. Why don’t we have patience with him to come back and address your grievances?” read the Tweet.
Meanwhile, Chiwenga is reportedly on a honeymoon with his new wife colonel Miniyothabo Baloyi, who is a serving officer in the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA).
