The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed they are still investigating the callous murder in which Tafadzwa Murengwa fatally shot his girlfriend Samatha Dzapata last week.
The development comes after some Zimbabweans assumed the case was closed after the news that Boss Pangolin had committed suicide on Saturday.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police later issued a statement on Saturday, providing more details on how Murengwa died.
According to a police statement, Murengwa committed suicide by drinking Dichlorvos 100 EC Insecticide.
“The ZRP confirms that Tafadzwa Russell Murengwa (29) who was wanted for the callous murder of Samantha Ruvimbo Dzapata (28) in Harare on 29/07/22, committed suicide by drinking Dichlorvos 100 EC Insecticide in Gletwin area, Shawasha Hills, Harare last night,” reads part of the statement.
The police added they recovered Boss Pangolin’s Toyota Aqua and a Webley Revolver, which is believed to be the one he used to shoot his girlfriend Samantha Dzapata.
Meanwhile, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi told a weekly publication that they are still investigating Samantha Dzapata’s murder.
Assistant Commissioner Nyathi said they want to establish the origins of the gun that Boss Pangolin used to commit the callous murder of Samantha. He also said they want to find out if he was the owner of the 0,38 Webley Revolver.
Nyathi added that they want to establish the motives behind the murder of Samantha Dzapata.
“We want to establish the origins of the gun and find out if he was the rightful owner of the revolver that was used for the murder. We will also want to establish the motives behind this callous murder,” he said.
Boss Pangolin died on Saturday after he shot his girlfriend Samatha Dzapata, accusing her of cheating with a married man.
The two had been in relationship for four years.
