Police Speak On Increased Robbery Cases Of Motor Vehicles

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has raised alarm about the increase of motor vehicle robberies by transport seekers.

The police said the transport seekers pretend to be honest passengers when they are given a lift, but they will swiftly change during the journey to steal motorist cars and other valuable gadgets like cellphones.

ZRP also warned motorists to remove keys on ignition when they park vehicles in busy areas like towns and growth points to avoid criminals.

In a statement, the police announced motor vehicle robbery cases across the country, urging motorists to shun, giving lifts to strangers at all costs.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is concerned with robbery cases where some motorists are failing prey to criminals posing as genuine transport seekers across the country. Some of the motorists are losing vehicles unattended with keys on the ignition port.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police urges motorists to be alert and stop giving lifts to strangers in their vehicles nomatter the circumstance or situation,” reads the statement.

In another case ZRP also announced the arrest of Jealous Thomas Musariri(43) on Saturday, who allegedly stabbed Tinashe Nyanguwo (36) and Joshua Kadungure (37) to death with a knife in Riverside, Chinhoyi after a misunderstanding on September 29 this year.
