Zengeza West MP Job Sikhala’s accomplice, Godfrey Sithole, was granted bail on Thursday after spending 149 days in remand at Chikurubi Maximum Prison.
The Chitungwiza North MP was ordered to pay ZW$300 000 bail fee by Harare magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa.
The duo are facing charges of inciting public violence after the death of slain CCC activist Moreblessing Ali.
However, Sikhala, who has endured numerous unyielding attempts to secure his freedom, remains behind bars
Commenting on his release, CCC spokesperson Fadzai Mahere said the time spent by the party legislator in jail was unjustified and too long
“All political prisoners must be freed. Bail is a constitutional right. They have all been incarcerated for a period longer than the ordinary sentence they had faced if they were guilty, yet they are innocent.
“We need new leaders,” Mahere said.
