Man Passes Away After Falling From Monomotapa Hotel’s 8th Floor

An unidentified man paased away early Thursday morning after apparently falling from a room at Crowne Plaza Monomotapa hotel in Harare.

Witnesses said the 63-year-old Caucasian man, believed to have been a guest at the hotel, passed away instantly on impact with the ground.

Hotel management declined to comment on the incident, which police are now investigating, The Herald reported.

A huge crowd gathered at the scene as police removed the body after paramedics pronounced the man dead.

A vendor who plies his trade near the hotel told The Herald newspaper about what had happened.

“I heard a loud thud and was shocked to find out that it was a man who had fallen from a hotel room.

“I initially thought it was an electrical explosion,” said the vendor.

The circumstances leading to the incident are still unclear as police investigations continue.

In a statement , the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the incident happened at 8.30 am on Thursday 12 January 2023.

The statement also said that the man “jumped to his demise” from the 8th floor.
