MSD Says The Rainfall Is Greatly Reducing

The Meterirological Service Department of Zimbabwe (MSD) says rainfall will reduce as we enter the weekend, but it will be back soon.

In a weather update, the MSD said briefly cloudy and warm conditions with isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected in some parts of the country on Friday.

“Briefly cloudy and warm conditions with isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected over northern parts of Matabeleland North, extreme northern areas of the Midlands (Gokwe North), Harare Metropolitan, northern parts of Manicaland and all Mashonaland Provinces.

“Localised downpours remain probable. Matabeleland South, Masvingo, Manicaland, southern parts of Mashonaland East, much of the Midlands (Gokwe South to Zvishavane), Bulawayo Metropolitan and southern areas of Matabeleland North Provinces should be mostly sunny and warm, though mild both morning and evening,” reads the weather report.

MSD said on Saturday it should be briefly cloudy, warm, and light showers will remain a probability.

“It should be briefly cloudy and warm in Matebeleland North, northern parts of the Midlands, Harare Metropolitan and all Mashonaland Provinces: light showers remain probable, especially along the Zambezi Valley (northern parts of Matabeleland North, and Provinces).

“Matabeleland South, Masvingo, Manicaland, southern parts of Mashonaland East, much of the Midlands (Gokwe South to Zvishavane), Bulawayo Metropolitan and southern areas of Matabeleland North Provinces are anticipated to be mostly sunny and warm, though mild both morning and evening,” reads the weather report.

In an advisory on Wednesday, MSD projected relatively low rainfall activity and a possible dry spell in southern parts of the country this week.

The department said the movement of moderate tropical storm Cheneso in the Mozambique channel could divert moisture away from Zimbabwe and result in reduced rainfall activity in southern districts from Wednesday {January 25} into the weekend.
