Zanu Pf Backs Palestine In Struggle Freedom From Israeli Occupation

Top Zanu Pf officials have expressed support for Palestine in its longstanding battle against Israel’s “apartheid colonialism”.

They said this in Harare last week Friday at a function dubbed “Zimbabwe and Palestine Solidarity, special conference”.

Zanu Pf Secretary for External Affairs Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Deputy Minister of Information Kindness Paradza, Charmain of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee of Foreign Affairs Webster Shamhu and Zanu Pf Secretary for Information Christopher Mutsvangwa were among the top Zanu PF officials who graced the occasion.

Speaking at the conference, Mumbengegwi said Zimbabwe won the liberation struggle in 1980, a conclusive act that if Palestine picks up the threads, they can have independence from Israel.

He also rebuked the current two state solution, which the United States is proposing, insisting it is void if Israel continues to “encroach” on Palestine’s territory.

He said, “We subdued an enemy who had declared that they would remain in power for a thousand years, therefore when we gather here as Zimbabweans, we fully support the liberation of the people of Palestine.

“We are enlisting ourselves as part of a worldwide network of solidarity movements and networks, which together will develop to the liberation of the Palestinian people.

“Yes, they can talk of their beliefs in a two state solution, but it is just a mere talk. Recently, the secretary of state of the United States was reported to be in the region talking about a two state solution, but why do you talk about a two state solution, when Israel is occupying power continuously to encroach on Palestine territory?”

US President Joe Biden recently stated that both Jews and Palestinians have historical and cultural roots in the region.

He said living side-by-side under a two-state solution was the best way for long-lasting peace.

“As we work together toward greater integration —greater integration, we’ll also continue to work for— toward a lasting negotiated peace between the State of Israel and the Palestinian people.

“Israel must remain an independent, democratic, Jewish state — the ultimate guarantee and guarantor of security of the Jewish people not only in Israel, but the entire world.  I believe that to my core.

“And the best way to achieve that remains a two-state solution for two people, both of whom have deep and ancient roots in this land, living side-by-side in peace and security. Both states fully respecting the equal rights of their citizens; both people enjoying equal measures of freedom.” said the American president.

Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa, who was also a guest of honor at the special conference, said Palestine will be independent soon, pledging to support it at all costs.

“There can be shared prosperity between Israel and Palestine, but l think with the courage of the Palestinian people they will be independent from Israel’s imperialism,” he said.

Palestine ambassador to Zimbabwe Tamer Almassri, who was also a speaker at the conference, castigated the killings of Palestinian women and children by Israeli forces during the current violent clashes between the two states, insisting minors are sacrosanct beings, and their life must be preserved in such precarious clashes.

The land to which Jews and Palestinians lay claim was under the Ottoman Empire and then the British Empire in the early 20th century.

In the 1967 Israeli-Arab war, Israel captured Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, West Bank, Old City of Jerusalem, and Golan Heights. Israel is not willing to give up these gains to Palestine, which now stands as the root cause of the conflict.
