Prophet Uebert Angel, has promised to sue Aljazeera and other Zimbabwean individuals whom he said are “peddling” the Aljazeera documentary titled “Gold Mafia”.
The man of cloth said this in Harare today through his lawyer professor Lovemore Madhuku. Madhuku was addressing the media on behalf of his client Uebert angel.
In the documentary titled “Gold Mafia”, Al Jazeera’s investigative unit alleges that Uebert Angel, Mr Simon Rudland, Mr Ewan McMillan, Mr Cleopas Chidodo, Mr David Chirozvi, Mr Mehlululi Dube and Mr Fradreck Kunaka are among those engaged in money laundering and gold smuggling.
However, Uebert angel through his lawyer said, “certainly we are going to sue Aljazeera for this publication. Action will be taken against Aljazeera whether it is the lawyers outside the country, we will look at the rules that require how we get them, they will certainly but sued and that indeed the other persons that keep peddling these matters will also be sued.”
His swift response comes after CCC leader advocate Nelson Chamisa recently posted on his twitter handle that the dazzling documentary clearly exposé how those in power are looting and destroying the country’s economy.
“Aljazeera documentary exposes the extend of the rot at the top, but its just the tip of the iceberg. This clearly shows how corrupt, rotten and broken leadership has destroyed a jewel and a great country. Zimbabwe is not poor but it is poorly governed,” said Chamisa.
Award winning veteran journalist, Hopewell Chino’no is also one of the prominent figures who responded to Aljazeera documentary.
He said, “We learn that Angel’s Ambassador-at-Large position is to allow him to move illegal and looted things including money without being searched. We learn that he has done this with up to US$300 million. We learn that he has the blessing of a high up authority to do this.”
Meanwhile, Uebert Angels lawyer (Madhuku) went on to say that his client is innocent from all the money laundering and gold smuggling allegations. He said the allegations by Aljazeera are meant to tarnish the name of the first family.
Madhuku added that his client only entertained the Aljazeera investigative unit because he was working for the National security.
“Uebert angel is not corrupt. He is not involved in gold smuggling and money laundering that are coming out but he had to do that because the national security wanted to use him in preventing the threat on our country,” said Madhuku.
