Zimbabwe Federation of Trade Unions (ZFTU) Secretary General, Mr Kenias Shamuyarira has condemned MDC’s views on Workers Day saying they are too far-fetched.
The MDC led by Douglas Mwonzora released a statement on Monday outlining problems being faced by workers in Zimbabwe.
In an interview with 263times last night, Shamuyarira noted the hypocrisy in the statement.
“Their assertion and their worry in as much as it is true, is a misfiring statement from a political party which is in the parliament of Zimbabwe.
“They are failing to pursue such statement in Parliament.”, he said.
Mr Shamuyarira argued that the MDC is the major shareholder in most Councils around the country and they treat their workers in an unfavorable manner.
“The same MDC is running the City Councils, municipalities all over the country and their workers are earning peanuts just like any other wallowing worker in poverty.” Added Shamuyarira.
The MDC press statement on Workers Day is posted below.
International Workers’ Day, also known as Labour Day in some countries is a celebration of labourers and the working classes that is promoted by the international labour movement and occurs every year on May 1.
